Eight Sentence Sunday #7

Happy almost-Halloween!

This weekend's eight sentences are once again brought to you by WeWriWa, a blog hop that is held every weekend as an incentive not to slack on Saturdays and Sundays. It's a great way to connect to other authors and see what they're up to, as well as expose yourself to them!

Er... that last bit came out wrong.

For this week's eight, we go right back to The Haunted Lingerie, a paranormal erotic romance that follows Misty Ryder, a victim of supernatural shenanigans, and her quest to solve a decade-old cold case. One might call it a Halloween Whodunit!

Or not.

In this scene, Misty is contending with this new voice inside her head that she's not completely certain is hers - a voice that makes her do things she wouldn't normally do, like put the moves on Jack on the stoop of a Catholic church in a hailstorm. Misty's normal thoughts are denoted with italics, while the other voice's thoughts are denoted with bold italics to discern them from one another. On another note, creative punctuation is in use here. Feel free to divide the sentences more appropriately in your head.

Without further ado, you'll find my eight below:

... Without meaning to, Misty stepped forward into Jack, lightly grasping the open front of his jacket on either side of the zipper, and looked up at him through her long eyelashes.
“You have no idea,” she murmured, her heart skipping a beat as she said it. What the hell am I doing? she thought.
Getting the guy, the strange voice inside of her answered, then added smugly: I know it’s a foreign concept to you.
Her fingers caressed the lining of his jacket, brushing against his shirt and the rock hard muscles underneath it, each tactile glimpse into what he might look like stripped bare in front of her eliciting pleasant pulsations from between her legs, even as her own muscles tensed, bracing for him to pull away, her stomach quivering in anticipation of the rejection that she was sure would come next.
But Jack only lifted his free hand and slipped his thumb into the crook of her arm, using the rest of his fingers to place a light, fleeting touch across her elbow.
“We should get going,” he said, dampening her excitement. “Storm seems to be gettin’ worse.” ...

New Release: "The Game: Home Run"

This is it - the final installment in The Boys Club Series is here.

It's been a long road. My first foray into erotica was The Game: First Down, the first part of the trilogy that quickly became my bestseller. Although I left it momentarily to work on other projects, and in the process was able to produce ten more titles, my mind always wandered back to Vince and how his story would end.

Is this a story where Vince "gets the guy?" Is he too far removed from his own sexuality for him to fully actualize the nuances of his journey? When it's all over, will he go back to his apartment alone? How will his experiences have changed him?

The answer lies in the third and final book, The Game: Home Run.

I'll provide you with a snippet from the new book, as well as its cover art, after the jump.

New Sneak Peek: "The Haunted Lingerie"

Good morning, everyone!

As the weather cools and the nights grow longer, I become more and more involved in The Haunted Lingerie. Now at almost 27,000 words, it's about halfway through the story with the action really rolling. Although I missed my initial deadline of October 13th, it won't be long before the book is finished and ready for reading.

I'm giving serious consideration to publishing using CreateSpace so that I can have physical copies of the book available in addition to electronic ones. I do all my own editing, formatting, and artwork, so as far as I can tell, there won't be a significant fee for me to do so, but I don't yet know if it will be worth it or if I will still be allowed to distribute on Barnes & Noble or other retailers, so I haven't committed just yet. Still, this is a book I firmly believe in and would like to see up on my bookshelf next to my John Saul, Dean Koontz, and Jeffrey Deaver novels. I guess time will tell (and of course, I'll announce it here when it's all figured out).

Another exciting announcement is that I've secured a wonderful artist/cartographer to illustrate a map of the town of Sanctum Harbor, which will be included in the first pages of the book! I've quite enjoyed creating the town, and it will be so nice to see it come to life in more ways than one. I'll have his artwork up with his permission once it's finished.

I wanted to offer another sneak peek today because I've been really delving into the characters and would like to share them with you. Today's excerpt involves a reveal about Misty's home life, her relationship to Jack before the events of the novel, and why the effects of the lingerie hit home with her the way they do.

Technically, these are two snippets from two different parts of the book merged together, but I thought the insight into past events might be interesting to share with you today.

The snippet, and cover art, are available after the jump.

Eight Sentence Sunday #6

It's that time again. That time when writers wake up on the weekends with Mulan's Be a Man dancing 'round in their heads. That time when keyboards clack like war drums in the distance.

The time of the Weekend Writing Warriors blog hop.

This week's excerpt doesn't come from The Haunted Lingerie, but from a tale I released earlier in the week called Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound. It's the first in the planned trilogy of The Witch's Apprentice Series, and it follows the misadventures of Sam Dawson, a newly-single twenty-something looking to fill the void his ex-girlfriend, Abby Dixon, left behind. As he drunkenly mopes at a Halloween party thrown by his best friends, they dare him to sneak up to the house on Hollow Hill to raid the panties of the witch who supposedly lives there. But Sam gets caught, and he soon finds out that her legendary powers are a lot more real than he expected - especially when she bewitches him into the panties he tried to steal and makes him bend over for punishment! Will he be able to resist? Or will the witch have her way with him? Find out in this story full of big, beautiful witches, supernatural spankings, and of course, pegging!

Eight sentences from this tale of paranormal erotic romance can be found below:

... Sam whimpered. He didn’t want to put the panties on – hell, he didn’t want to be standing naked in front of her – but every part of him felt compelled to do so anyway.
His muscles clenched and quivered with his efforts to resist, but the spellbinding effect of Valeria’s eyes had crippled his will, and he reached out with a trembling hand to accept the lacy offering before him.
Carefully, he stepped through each of the leg holes, pointing his toes to get his big feet to fit without tearing through the thin fabric, and Valeria giggled as she watched. The soft, luxurious undergarment lightly teased at his skin as he raised the panties up over his inner thighs. Although he was loathe to admit it, the panties felt leagues better than men’s underwear did, and he found himself idly wishing that some designer somewhere would find some middle ground to make improvements.
“Slowly,” Valeria said, resting her chin upon her fist, “I like to watch.”
Sam obeyed; he had no other choice. ...
If you enjoyed those eight sentences, you can purchase Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound from AmazonBarnes & NobleSmashwords and All Romance eBooks. You can also click on the cover art to be taken directly to its Amazon listing, or check out my Amazon author page here for more stories.

I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences. If you're looking for some more great reads, try Veronica Hardy and John Dylena on for size!

Hope to see you again next weekend!

Late Night Reading #7: "The Demon in my Heart" by John Dylena

Welcome to another episode of Late Night Reading!

This week, I'm pleased to review the second in John Dylena's trilogy: The Demon in my Heart.

You may recall that this is an erotic dark urban fantasy about a man who falls in love with a rather demanding succubus. The Demon in my Heart is so much more than that, though. The world John has crafted expands to its fullest extent here, and in addition to some wonderful romance and wicked sex, we get to attach ourselves more to the characters he has created and invest ourselves more fully in what is becoming an epic adventure.

The Demon in my Heart literally picks up where The Demon at my Door left off. Let's see how much of this review I can get through without spoiling it for you as we break it down after the jump!

New Release: "Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound"

Today marks the occasion of my tenth book being published!

At 13,480 words, it's also the longest book I've published to date (even though The Haunted Lingerie will soon blow it out of the water as far as word count goes).

I feel like I've come a very long way in just a short period of time. I'm still struggling out there in the great, wide world of self-publishing, but with ten books under my belt, it finally feels like I'm starting to carve out my own personal niche. Hopefully I'll have a lot of company there soon, but in the meantime, it's nice to feel like I have a place in the grand scheme of things.

Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound is the first in a planned series of books called The Witch's Apprentice Series. It's an erotic romance about a man looking for true love, and the bizarre, bewildering place he finds it in. Chock full of sexy witches, pegging, and forced feminization, But seriously, what do you expect when you sneak into a witch's house on a dare to steal her panties?

Trick or treat yourself to an excerpt after the jump!

Eight Sentence Sunday #5

Hello, all!

It is once again time for WeWriWa, a blog hop that occurs on weekends in order to encourage authors to expose themselves to others' works, as well as not to slack on the weekends and get some damn writing done!

This week's eight comes once again The Haunted Lingerie. We're going to skip forward a bit to Misty's first night alone in possession of the cursed garment. She was just taking a bath when a strange shadow fell over her, but upon surfacing from the tub, she found that no one was there.

We'll pick up during the aftermath of that eerie phenomenon now.

... She waited, holding her breath until her vision blurred and bathwater began to overflow onto the tile floor. She turned the faucet off and listened. She didn't hear anything.
But there was a smell.
She sniffed despite herself. It was sweet – sickly so, with a sharp acridity that followed. She raised her hand to her mouth to fight the urge to gag and closed her eyes, trying to remember why it seemed familiar, where she had smelled it before.
As soon as her eyelids shut, she remembered: her father’s body had smelled just like that after he had died. ...
I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences this week. If you've enjoyed this snippet, you can take a look at my other works on AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Smashwords. You can also access my Amazon author page by clicking on the cover art image above.

Hope you're having a great weekend, and that it only gets better from here!

Late Night Reading #6: "I Married a Wereosaur" by Alice May Ball

Good evening, erotiquettes!

Tonight, I have a very special treat for you.

This one is not just a brand new release, but an erotic masterpiece penned by none other than Alice May Ball.

The merits of illustrious authorship aside, this is easily one of the most epic stories I've ever read - and for one that clocks in just over 3,000 words, that's a pretty notable feat!

The name, you ask?

I Married a Wereosaur.

Come explore its mysterious depths with me after the jump!

The Haunted Lingerie: A Supernatural Snippet

It's Wednesday! And you know what that means...

...well, usually it means absolutely nothing.

But today, it means I post a new snippet from The Haunted Lingerie!

This is the first novel-length story I will be publishing, and hopefully, it will be the start of a supernatural series of standalone novels that occur within the same strange town.

It's also the most popular story idea I've had so far. I'm pretty excited about that aspect of it. I've always wanted to write something people were actually interested in, and since it's October, it seems like the perfect time to get this thing out there.

My goal is to have this completed and published by October 13th. So all week, I'll be working on nothing but The Haunted Lingerie in order to achieve my goal. It will be the first time I've focused on one story instead of many since I started publishing, but hopefully the nature of the story will draw in enough readers to make up for only publishing once during this week.

Without further ado, follow me after the jump for a look at the finalized cover art and an extended sexy supernatural sneak peek!

Eight Sentence Saturday #4

It's that time!

WeWriWa is here again, which means I'll be sharing another eight sentences from a published or in-progress work. WeWriWa is a great way for authors to participate in a blog-hop and not only gain exposure for themselves, but give other authors some feedback, too!

For the month of October, I'll be featuring paranormal excerpts only to get you in the mood for Halloween. That means that this week's excerpt is from The Haunted Lingerie, a paranormal erotic romance novel I've been working very hard on for the past month or so.

We'll start off at the point where Misty first sees the cursed lingerie, and where she immediately falls under its spell.

Misty paused, breathlessly basking in the radiance of its unique beauty. The detail was exquisite; it had obviously been made with care, more so than anything she could find in a department store – or even a specialty boutique – these days. The lacework was impeccable, a sprawling pattern of roses up the back that would serve to frame a woman’s natural curves beautifully, wrapping around the sides and skirting the fabric of the front panel, dyed a velvety violet. Purple was Misty’s favorite color, and this shade was particularly divine: a rich, luxe hue which reminded her of royalty and Old Hollywood glamour.
She reached out and reverently touched the silken fabric at the front, noticing the sneaky little underwire delicately built in to the cloth. She could imagine herself sheathed inside of it, the hourglass curves of the luxurious teddy hugging her own as if she had been poured into it and had subsequently altered herself to fit its form. It was like it had been made for her – only for her – and had serendipitously arrived precisely when she needed it most.
Jack will be mine, she thought, staring at the lingerie in a trance.

Late Night Reading #5: "The Demon at my Door" by John Dylena

Finally, a fantasy story!

Not that I haven't enjoyed all the other stories I've read so far, but the fantasy genre is kind of my baby. My very first stories were fantasy-themed and I've had a love affair with both that genre and horror from as far back as I can recall.

So naturally, I was very excited by the opportunity to review John Dylena's latest book, The Demon at my Door, a story about a succubus who moves in as the uninvited roommate of the only man she's ever been unable to kill.

Sounds almost like an anime, right? And in a good way!

I'll explain more as we break it down after the jump.

New Releases: "Sweet Treats, Vol. 1" and "The Game: Dangerous Play," Plus a Sneak Peek at New Cover Art

Thanks to B&N's lengthy turnaround time on new projects, I have two new releases to share with you this week!

It's October, and that means I'll be focusing more on paranormal projects than anything else. Subsequently, Yulene and the Wolf will take a backseat to The Haunted Lingerie, because although the first is paranormal enough, it takes place during the winter solstice, so I don't plan on releasing it until November anyway.

I was happy to get two works out this week and meet my goal after only getting one book out last week. I'm feeling much more confident that I can adhere to that schedule now. Plus, I was able to give fans something they've been looking for: a direct sequel to The Game (now listed as The Game: First Down). It's my bestselling work and already fans are giving it a run for its money with its sequel, officially titled The Game: Dangerous Play. Expect a third and final installment soon!

I also bundled together all three of my lactation stories (Cleaning up Camille, Mia's Milk Machine, and The Milk Party) into Sweet Treats, Vol. 1: Cream of the Crop. There will be more Sweet Treats volumes in the future, all focusing on various "sweet" stories. At only $4.99, it's a great way to save money if you're interested in even just two of the stories I offer!

You'll find excerpts, plus an exclusive work-in-progress, behind-the-scenes look at The Haunted Lingerie's new cover art, after the jump!
