Release Day: The Milk Party - Plus a Follow-Up to the Banned Book Post

Okay, so I couldn't wait anymore.

I was going to stave off posting this update until Nookpress has figured out its life, but it's been three days and I just can't be expected to hold it in any longer.

It's here!

My latest work, The Milk Party, is live! It's an 11,000 word story - my longest work - as well as an erotic romance, my first ever venture into that particular subgenre.

Unfortunately, it has also been ADULT filtered by Amazon.

Speaking of which, did I tell you that Pop Goes the Cherry got un-blocked? Because it did! Apparently, one of Amazon's no-no words is now "virgin," which means if you have "virgin" in your title, your parentheticals, or your description, your book is likely to get blocked. Not filtered - BLOCKED.

Mia's Milk Machine has also fallen prey to the insidious filter, and I'm being told that "lactation" is the word that will get you filtered now. Gee, can't wait to see the shitstorm that ensues from breastfeeding literature being placed under an ADULT filter (I'm lookin' at you, Pradheep, you overzealous conservative you!).

You can find a saucy excerpt from The Milk Party as well as links to purchase it from after the jump!

Late Night Reading #4: "Riveted: For Love of a Soldier" by Veronica Hardy

Welcome to another installment of Late Night Reading!

This evening, I had the immense pleasure of reading and reviewing the brand new release from Veronica Hardy entitled Riveted: For Love of a Soldier.

Veronica sets us up in the middle of World War II America, where a tantalizingly curvy riveter named Ava Dunn finds herself pursued - and pursuing - an Italian-American Army officer, Lieutenant Angelo Mascotti. Amidst their burgeoning love affair is the uncertainty of the direction of the war, Angelo's intentions, and even Ava's future. It's a complicated tale made delightfully simple by Veronica's romantic optimism and the characters' headlong plunge into each other (quite literally, in one scene!).

Sounds good, doesn't it? Let's break it down after the jump!

Eight Sentence Saturday #3

Good morning, everyone!

Today is Saturday, which means it's yet another opportunity to participate in WeWriWa! WeWriWa is an event that writers can participate in on a weekly basis by posting eight sentences - no more, no less - of a current or past work. It helps to promote weekend writing (where some of us might normally slack), which is a cause I can always rally behind.

For this week's eight sentences, I've provided a snippet of my upcoming short for the Smutwriters Holiday Anthology, entitled Yulene and the Wolf: A Yuletide Legend. It's a short story about a Norse girl sacrificed to Fenrir in order to placate his struggles against the chains of the gods which have bound him, thereby preventing Ragnarök for another ten years. Once she's in the monster's presence, however, she finds that he may have an entirely different appetite that needs satisfying, and that doing so might just save her life.
... Yulene Úlfreyr breathed once more into the night and watched as it made ghosts in the frigid air, a grim reminder of what she would soon be.
Her lips were trembling. Her feet were frozen. Her fingers were blue, although she could not see them as her hands had been tied around the big river rock behind her. Vánagandr’s Tooth, they called it, a remnant of the monster they sought to appease with their offering of a young virgin, kept so by the elders far after her peers had all been married, who had borne a caul at the unfortunate event of her birth. That was Yulene, who had the honor of knowing the moment of her death from the very moment she took life, and who now stood freezing to death on the icy shores of the river Ván, wondering if beast or snow would kill her first.
Ulvekjøtt, she heard the children call her from a land of distant, fading memories. Wolf-meat. ...
I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences! You can click on the sneak peek of the cover art for Yulene and the Wolf below in order to access my author page and check out the rest of my books.

Hope you're having a great weekend, and that it only gets better from here!

"Pop Goes the Cherry" Gets BANNED by Amazon

In honor of Banned Books Week, Amazon has decided to bestow the honor upon me of having one of my books banned!

(This isn't like the post I wrote about Cleaning Up Camille getting ADULT filtered. I got an e-mail back from Amazon stating the cover art was the problem, and I decided not to change it because I didn't want to spend the money on new stock, so it was my decision not to pursue getting it unfiltered.)

For those of you following Amazon's witch hunt against erotica writers of all subgenres, we may have another casualty: The word "cherry" may in fact be a bannable offense on Amazon.com.

BBW Literature: Veronica Hardy's Take

Veronica Hardy of Veronica Hardy's Erotica recently tackled the issue of BBW literature. For those of you who don't know, BBW refers to "Big, Beautiful Women," typically focusing on women a size 12 or above. As the average size for a woman is now a 14, this classification applies to a slew of readers around the world.

So, why isn't it very popular?

New Release Day #2: Mia's Milk Machine

I did it! I met my goal this week of completing and publishing two works!

The first, as you may recall, was Cleaning Up Camille. The second as of today is Mia's Milk Machine, an M/F BBW erotic lactation story. It's currently only up on Smashwords and pending approval from B&N and Amazon, but to me, that still counts.

You can sneak a peek at the cover art, as well as a naughty excerpt, after the jump.

Eight Sentence Saturday #2

For this week's WeWriWa challenge, I'll post a snippet from my upcoming work, Mia's Milk Machine.

I love participating in this, as it gives me a reason to write on the weekends and achieve my goals for the week. This week's goal was to publish two different works. As soon as it's finished, Mia's Milk Machine will be the second, following Cleaning Up Camille. I'm going to try to make its cover art a little more "tame" per Amazon's ridiculous guidelines, so we'll see if it gets filtered or not.

Anyhow, here's your eight sentence snippet!

He could see right away that she was swollen to capacity. He had seen it in a cow’s udders before, and he knew how uncomfortable and painful it could be. Although he felt a twinge of sympathy for her, he also felt a completely different twinge in his cock, one that bid it to its full length in just a few seconds. Soon he was just as swollen and uncomfortable as she was, and where he could see her pulse flowing through a dusky blue vein near the surface of her chest, he could feel his blood thrumming in the much more prominent veins of his girthsome shaft.
Mia said: “I’ve been lucky. Unlike most women in my situation, I’ve been overflowing with milk. One of my regulars happened to notice and told me about several very rich men he knew who would pay handsomely if I could develop a line of specialty products tailored specifically to their… unique predilections.”
She smiled as she put the teatcups down on a nearby tray and said: “I’m not worried about you stealing my secret ingredient, Dom, because the secret ingredient is me.”
I hope you've enjoyed my contribution to WeWriWa this week. If you enjoyed Mia's Milk Machine, consider looking into Cleaning Up Camille - or one of my other works - as an alternative until it's released!

Late Night Reading #3 (A Few Hours Late): "Banging My Best Friend's Brother" by Calandra North

Nothing like having internet problems right at the time you're trying to post a review. I guess they don't call it the witching hour for nothing.

I sat down a couple nights ago with Calandra North's new book, Banging My Best Friend's Brother. I imagine you can guess what kind of story it was just from the title!

Calandra North has only recently broken into the scene, but I predict she'll be staying around for quite some time. As one of her first works, Banging My Best Friend's Brother is quite good, with a sweet underlying story that almost all readers will identify with.

Let's break it down after the jump!

Nora Nix Reads: Ellen Dominick's Erotic Voices Podcast

Hi, everyone!

Today, I had the honor and privilege of being a guest on Ellen Dominic's blog. I participated in her Erotic Voices podcast and chose to read an excerpt from book one of the Reagan Dubois DuologyFinders, Peepers, my girl-on-girl-on-girl erotic short! It was great fun and I was so happy that she allowed me to take part.

You can listen to me read from Finders, Peepers here. And don't forget to check out Ellen's blog, as well as her own erotica, while you're at it!

In the meantime, stay tuned for another installment of "Late Night Reading" in just a couple of hours.

Thursday Giveaways #1: The Three-Sentence Challenge

Good afternoon, everyone!

Welcome to the first-ever Thursday Giveaway! Every week, I will be giving away a free copy of your choice of story to one lucky winner. We'll do different competitions each week to keep things spicy around here, so if you're nervous about one, don't worry - there's plenty more where that came from!

This week's challenge is simple: Turn me on in three sentences (or less!), and I will send you a .mobi or .epub of your choice of story from my catalog. A customer review left on Goodreads or one of my distributor's sites after you've read it would be appreciated, but is not required.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this blog post. The deadline for entry is tonight at midnight, so hurry up and get me hot!

(Don't worry, Tabatha, your prize is still in the works. As soon as The Haunted Lingerie is pretty and polished, it will be in your inbox before anyone else can even purchase it.)

You can click on the link to my author page here to see which story in my catalog catches your interest. I look forward to reading your naughty prose!

A Puritan's Pursuit: Filtered By Amazon

Recently, Amazon has been making some radical changes as to how they conduct business with authors of erotica, erotic romance, and the readers who love both.

Amazon has always been a little more strict than Barnes & Noble, which seems to have an almost no-holds-barred policy, and Smashwords, which similarly does not seem to care much about anything that doesn't involve rape or bestiality (shifter/werewolf porn is still okay, though). Over the past month, however, Amazon's efforts have turned downright Puritanical.

Coming Soon: A Twisted Snippet

Two ancient packs, both alike in savagery,
In fair Bright Falls, where we lay our scene,
From primal grudge break to new mutiny,
Where feral blood makes feral hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers plea for life;
With hope that love may truly overthrow
And bury deep their bloodline's strife...

Late Night Reading #2 - "Sex Game" by Olivia Quinn

Do you enjoy a bit of lyrical prose in your erotica? If so, Olivia Quinn may be just the author for you!

Fairly new to the scene, Olivia offers a sophistication that many new authors lack in their work. Fans of Violet Blue will enjoy Olivia's language and structure, as well as her detailed descriptions and insights into her character's apprehensions and fantasies.

Let's break it down after the jump.

Biphobia

One of the themes I explore in the Reagan Dubois Duology is a fear of judgement.

Reagan is a fairly sheltered girl. She comes from a conservative home. Her sexuality has always been something to keep under wraps, even from herself. So when she begins to experience feelings for both sexes, she worries about having to choose.

At the end of Pop Goes the Cherry, that is explored a little more in-depth. Reagan is assured by her lesbian roommates that she doesn't have to choose anything for herself that she doesn't want to - including a label. They are very supportive of her, and that support and compassion allows her to begin to come to terms with her fluid sexuality.

Some people, as illustrated in the article "What Lesbians Think About Bisexuals" is Hopefully Not What Lesbians Think About Bisexuals, are not given that chance.

Drumroll, Please...

Good morning, everyone!

The winning image of last night's flash contest is...

Thanks to all who participated! After eventually struggling with this image versus the one I made of the blonde model on this background, this one finally won out. It will be used as my cover art for The Haunted Lingerie, my first novella.

But wait, there's more! The winning commenter is Tabatha Austin! Any reference to "The Haunted Mansion" is appreciated 'round these here parts. You can e-mail me at noranixwrites@gmail.com to discuss the juicy details of your forthcoming prize.

Thank you again, everyone! Time to get back to writing.

Late Night Reading #1 - "The Dinner Guest" by Haleigh Cookson Clark

Good evening, everyone!

To keep myself from obsessively checking the contest results, I decided to begin offering reviews on my blog for erotica/erotic romance authors. I think it's a great way to network, to contribute to the work of others, and also to acknowledge the effort and talent that exists out there in the mysterious realm of smut.

My first victim volunteer is Haleigh Cookson Clark, a fairly prolific author of a multitude of works available through multiple retailers. I was graciously given the opportunity to explore The Dinner Guest, a sordid tale of an "accidental" threesome... with a twist.

If that appetizer of a synopsis has you intrigued (and you ought to be), follow me after the jump for the delectable main course!

Cover Art Conundrum Contest!

I am crazy about cover art.

I used to be a graphic designer (I suppose I still am, but I digress). I'm also incredibly anal (HA!) retentive. Everything must be just so in order for me to call something a success or move on to the next task.

And so, as I begin to describe in detail both the lingerie and the protagonist from my newest work, The Haunted Lingerie, I find myself in the middle of a nervous breakdown over my choice of cover art.

I have found two great pictures (at least I narrowed it down to two, right?) which would both work extraordinarily well as cover art. Both are very different in both composition and subject, and they set very different tones for the novella.

Follow me after the jump, where I provide an in-depth analysis of each photo's pros and cons, and also give you the opportunity to vote on which one you like best!

EDIT: The contest is officially closed! Thank you for all your votes. I will post the winner as well as the prevailing image by 5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, September 16th, 2013.

Veronica Hardy Reviews "The Game" by Nora Nix!

A few days ago, my debut story, The Game, was reviewed by the illustrious Veronica Hardy. It was such an honor to be featured on her blog, but I didn't have a blog of my own at the time, and wasn't able to link to it right away.

Fortunately, that problem has now been solved! You can find the review on her blog here. Be sure to check out her other reviews, as well as her own work, which is also featured on her blog!

And if her review has piqued your interest, you can purchase your very own copy of The Game at AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Smashwords (be sure to check out my author page, too, if you like what you see)!

You can also sneak a peek at a saucy excerpt of The Game after the jump!

Welcome!

Welcome to the official blog of erotica and erotic romance writer Nora Nix!

For our first post, we'll be exploring something called Weekend Writing Warriors. Coordinated by WeWriWa, Weekend Writing Warriors is a blog-hop that takes place on Saturdays, wherein each participant posts only eight sentences from a story they've written, or the one they're currently working on.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Below, you can sample a sneak peek of my latest work-in-progress. If it whets your appetite, you can check out my catalog of published works on my author pages at AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

Enjoy! And be sure to stop by for more soon.
"Misty Ryder was having an orgasm, and not for the first time that day.
When she had woken up that morning, the first thing she had done after checking the time was to open up the nightstand drawer that contained her expensive, luxurious rabbit vibrator. It had been a purchase that she never once regretted, unlike some of her other personal splurges that she allowed herself whenever the mood struck.
Its design was a thing of beauty: long and slender, but with just enough girth for a snug fit, and the prettiest of iridescent violets that sometimes looked dark pink when the light hit it just right. There was even a row of black pearl beads – not real ones, of course, she didn’t have that kind of money – embedded into its shaft between its tip and its rabbit protrusion, and when she turned it on, they would swirl around inside of their transparent shell, bending and rotating the tip in a delicious rhythm and casting little prisms of light off their refractive surfaces. It had all the class of a crystal chandelier and way more potential for fun.
She had slid it inside herself with ease, spreading her legs wide beneath her sheets, knees bent, hips up. Misty had never needed any lube  – her pussy was often too wet for its own good and seemingly always at the most inappropriate times ..."
