Late Night Reading: Welcome to the Black Room by Laura Hault

I am a huge history buff. So when I have the opportunity to review a work that takes place in another time period, I get a little weak in the knees.

In Laura Hault's The Masquerade Affair: Welcome to the Black Room, we are immersed in a time of lords and ladies, tavern wenches, and as the title would suggest, masquerade balls. These aren't your typical formal affairs, however - these parties pack a kinky punch, as well as a dirty little secret.

This was a thrilling ride all the way through, and I was definitely not disappointed in how Laura was able to weave a fantastically sexy story throughout a realistic historical context. I was appreciative of her attention to detail, an effort which resulted in me being able to enjoy myself much more than if she hadn't been so thorough.

From the blurb:
Young women should always be wary of men who promise them money, but Henrietta has no choice. With a drunken lout of a husband and only a pittance to be earned as a barmaid, she cannot say no to the lord who promises her more gold than she’s ever seen. All she needs to do is attend a party, a single night of hedonistic debauchery.
When lords and ladies gather in the Black Room there is no telling what temptations Henrietta will be subjected to. She’ll have no choice but to give in to their pleasure.
Are you intrigued? I know I sure was! Let's break it down after the jump.

Eight Sentence Sunday #14

Happy post-holidays, everybody!

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of activity for me. Thanks to the generosity of a fellow author and reader, I was able to provide my daughter with a great Christmas, complete with her most coveted gift: an artist's easel. The days leading up to and following that very special Christmas morning are sort of a blur, hence why I missed last weekend. :(

But I'm back! And since I'm back, so is The Haunted Lingerie!

This is a snippet that falls into place just a little while after Misty becomes privy to the fact that Anita's memories are beginning to mingle with her own. She's walking through Anita's old house with Jack, the Deputy Sheriff she's harbored feelings for with since they were teenagers, looking for clues as to why she disappeared - and how she died shortly thereafter. The home was rented out a few times after she went missing, but no one ever stayed for long, and it's been abandoned for several years. Creative punctuation is in use!

... She stole one last glance at Jack over her shoulder, meeting his gaze beyond the shadows that turned his skin into a patchwork of darkness and light beneath his furrowed brow. She wished she had his strength; his confidence; his gun
And yet, without any of these things at hand, Misty somehow mustered the courage to clamp her fingers around the metal handle and turn it, revealing the startlingly radiant glow of the room beyond.
She lifted her arm up over her eyes, shielding them from the summery rays cascading in through the crystal-clear panes of the bay window facing the street. Sheer cotton curtains rippled in a gentle breeze, billowing in time to the melodic chirping of the wind chimes swaying outside the front door. She could smell the sweet, heady fragrance of the blood-red roses blooming just beneath the windowsill, each prideful petal puffed up to perfection as they gloated over the menagerie of the lesser flowers that cowered in their shadows, stealing the thunder of their own effulgent smatterings of yellows, pinks, and violets scattered about the lawn that stretched out like an emerald green ocean toward the dull, gray asphalt of the road beyond.
Misty knew it wasn’t real – it couldn’t be – but when she pinched herself, the vision remained; she was stuck in the realm of Anita’s memories.
But for how long? ...

Eight Sentence Sunday #13

Happy weekend, everybody!

With Christmas approaching, I am working harder than ever on The Haunted Lingerie. My original goal was to finish it by the end of October, but that didn't work out. My new goal is to finish it before January 1st, get it edited, and then have it released before Valentine's Day.

Incidentally, I put seven chapters of the story up on FictionPress.net, and holy crap! In less than a week, I have almost 700 readers. I'm in awe, and it gives me hope for the impending release. It was exactly what I needed to reassure me that I don't suck as an author and that I might still be able to achieve my dreams.

So of course, this week's snippet comes from there again!

In this scene, Misty is internally interrogating Anita, the spirit haunting her cursed lingerie. Anita can't remember how she died or who killed her, and it's up to Misty to try to jog her memory enough to figure it out for herself, and hopefully break the spell in the process. Anita is replying in bold italics.

... I remember the swings at Linden Park. I remember pumping my legs until my muscles were sore, trying to reach out and touch the sun. I remember my parents taking me to Coney Island every fall to ride the carousel and visit the boardwalk – it was the only time I ever got to see the beach. They had a rollercoaster there. I remember the first time I rode it, I thought, “this is the highest I’ll ever be.” There was an aquarium, too. A pause. But I never got to see it. ...

New Release: "Yulene and the Wolf: A Yuletide Legend"

Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?

I have been incredibly busy with the holidays as well as working on new stories. My newest one is just in time for Yuletide, and a story about a sacrifice made in honor of the season.

From the blurb:
Yulene has grown up on the tales of Ragnarok, the great clash of the gods that will destroy the mortal world. Every ten years, a young girl must be given as a sacrifice on the eve of the solstice; a gift meant to placate the ravenous Fenrir, a beast destined to kill Odin as part of the apocalyptic prophecy. Yulene must face the wolf this year, but when she does, she finds that there is another hunger that lurks within him. Can she satisfy his dark appetites? And will he let her live if she does?
If you like shifters, werewolves, and Norse mythology, this might just be the story for you!

Eight Sentence Sunday #12

Happy post holiday, everyone!

I accidentally missed last week's WeWriWa. It wasn't necessarily holiday-related. Steam had a sale, my boyfriend bought Civilization V, and I got absorbed in taking over the world. It's very nice to be able to do so in a game since I can't do it in real life!

This week's snippet is from a point a little farther along in The Haunted Lingerie. Misty has suggested that she and Jack venture to the former house of the spirit haunting her lingerie. She's hoping that revisiting the scene of the crime will jog Anita's memory and allow her to come to terms with how she died, and who killed her. When they arrive, the home has been foreclosed upon and has been vacant for several years. We pick up at the point where Misty exits the car for the first time and begins having a look around.

Without further ado, here are my eight sentences for this week. Creative punctuation is in use.

As Misty rose up out of her seat, her gaze fell to a row of dark, thorny stalks jutting up out of the ground. They encircled the front portion of the vacant house, a parade of twisted bundles so dry and withered that they looked like the slightest touch would snap their jutting limbs in half. She blinked as the edges of her vision began to blur, only to find that when she opened her eyes again, the gnarled collection of twigs had blossomed into a lush arrangement of red rose bushes in full bloom.
A gardener used to come twice a week to take care of them, Anita whispered, her voice quavering and taut. I used to sit by that big window and look out at them all the time. I was so proud of them - I’d never had anything that beautiful before. It almost makes me glad I didn’t live to see them like this. She paused, then gave way to a whimper: My babies…

New Release: "Losing It"

Happy almost-Thanksgiving, my American friends!

And to the rest of you, happy almost-weekend!

After producing fifteen smutty shorts, I decided to try my hand at some erotic romance. My sixteenth work, Losing It, is about a boy and a girl - best friends - who realize that they could be something more. But would their romance ruin their friendship? From the blurb:

Anna has been best friends with Trent for as long as she can remember. When an accidental touch during a game of basketball sparks a fire inside her, she begins to question her feelings for him - a question he answers with a kiss. Will a summer romance ruin their friendship? And is that all their feelings will amount to?

You can view the cover art, as well as an exclusive excerpt, below.

Trent had always meant more to me than just a best friend. He was the boy I spent summer after summer pining over, sneaking out of my bedroom window to run barefoot through the wet grass to his idling pick-up truck in the middle of the night, chancing all manner of trouble for myself if my parents ever found out. His puckish grin always made it worth it, and soon we’d be lounging on his deck, drinking in the balmy night while we drank beer and talked about old movies none of our other friends had ever seen.
But like Cinderella at her ball, I always had to be home before the dawn, and I’d spend the ride back wishing on the last dying star above me that there would be another night and another chance for my dreams to come true. Just before it faded into the first light of day, I would close my eyes and try to accept that unlike the fairy tales I grew up with, in real life, sometimes handsome princes just didn’t notice common girls.
Trent drew my body against his, closing the distance with his hand pressed firmly into the small of my back. I whimpered. I wanted to see him, wanted to look up into his eyes, but the veil of my shirt still held tight around my face as I blindly sought out his lips with my own. I heard a low, throaty chuckle in response. My knees went weak. I loved his laugh.
“So eager,” he whispered to me just before he engulfed my mouth in his.
Losing It is available for purchase from AmazonBarnes & NobleSmashwords, and All Romance eBooks. You can also click on its cover art above to be taken to its product page on Amazon.com.

Late Night Reading: "Hot Set" by Sage L. Morgan

You know, no one has ever accused me of being vanilla.

Sure, I might not write (or participate in) the most "out there" kink ever, but I do have my indulgences. I will freely admit that one of my dirtiest fantasies is something called PI, or pseudo-incest, which is where parties unrelated by blood, but still considered family, get it on. That might mean stepfather and stepdaughter, stepmother and stepson, or stepsiblings. One of the reasons I like it so much might actually be because it's so damn wrong and taboo.

That being said, do I necessarily endorse this behavior in real life? Only if everyone is above the age of consent and not being taken advantage of. Also, as part of a blended family, I certainly wouldn't be pleased if my daughter was fooling around with her stepdad - but that's why this sort of thing is a fantasy and not an endorsed reality. The terms of our fantasies are so much different - there are typically no consequences, no hurt feelings, and nothing we deem to be "actually creepy" is going on because it's all in our heads, and therefore, we get to set the terms.

This is a category that has seen a lot of bad press lately. Amazon, All Romance eBooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Draft2Digital, to name a few, have been up in arms over it due to some sensationalist press stories that have recently surfaced. Frankly, it's rather silly to tell readers that they aren't allowed to enjoy this kink involving person over the age of consent, and it's even sillier to tell authors that they can't profit from it, especially when it seems to only apply to self-published material. Last I checked, V.C. Andrews' and George R.R. Martin's stuff is all still up (hell, both even got their own movie/show).

So when I see that something like Hot Set by Sage L. Morgan has managed to twist the kink into something Amazon will begrudgingly approve, it makes me very happy.

From the blurb:
Eighteen-year-old Kendall plays a much younger character on the hit sitcom, Average American Teen. She's tired of everybody treating her like a little girl, especially her TV daddy, James. How far will she go to convince him that she's all grown up?
As you can see, this isn't necessarily "true" PI - but the "P" stands for "pseudo," which means "false," and so it still totally fits. Not only that, but Sage makes it hot as hell, with just enough verbage devoted to each character's inner turmoil to make the sex meaningful in addition to dark and dirty.

Let's break it down after the jump!

Eight Sentence Sunday #11

It's almost Thanksgiving in America, and I can already smell the turkey and jellied cranberry. But before I can indulge in a home-cooked meal at my parents' house, I've got another eight sentences to share with you!

This week is another eight sentences from The Haunted Lingerie. They provide a little insight into Misty's past, particularly how she dealt with the death of her father at such a young age, and why autumn is never a happy time for her.

Misty didn’t care for the changing colors. She was reminded too much of her father’s last days in the hospital, staring out his window at those trees, hanging on even after her mother had sat down at his bedside and told him through a veil of tears that he could let go as soon as he was ready.
Her father had smiled, kissed her on the forehead, and drawn her close against his frail, skeletal body.
I’ll go when they change, Mary, he told her, giving her body the best squeeze his atrophied arms could manage. I wanna see the colors one last time.
He hadn’t made it that long.
Misty had been one of those kids who believed in magic; who saw so much of the world as charmed; who believed that evil could always be overthrown by good and that any curse could be shattered by true love’s kiss.
But she stopped believing in it – any of it – when her father died while the leaves were still green.
I hope you enjoyed this week's eight. If you're in America, I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving! If you're in Canada, happy belated! And if you're elsewhere, I hope you've had a great weekend so far and that it only gets better from here.

New Release: "The Devil You Know"

This week has been a busy one.

I've been working doggedly on The Haunted Lingerie, my Paranormal/Horror Mystery Erotic Romance novel (that's a mouthful!). I'm cruising through the back end of the story, but getting hung up on the scenes that occur between bouts of action, and progress is going slower than I'd like. Still, at almost 60,000 words, I'm feeling pretty accomplished!

Not only that, but I can now claim fifteen titles to my name! My catalog looks so pretty I don't even know what to do with myself (besides keep publishing, of course)!

My fifteenth work is called The Devil You Know. It's the first time I've tried my hand at gender change erotica, and I have to say it was fun - and sexy! - to write. From the blurb:
Rory Anderson loves to take advantage of women. When he crushes the heart of his newest conquest, a sweet sorority virgin named Delia Sanderson, he feels like the big man on campus - until he wakes up as a girl! Worse yet, he's in the arms of an incubus summoned by the witches he's spurned. Can he atone for his sins without submitting to the infernal beast? Or will he give in to his new desires?

Late Night Reading: "The Cabin on Wolf Mountain" by Alice May Ball

Whew, it's been a long week - and it's only Monday!

As the holidays draw near, I find myself seeking escape more often. It's just so hectic with a five-year-old., especially when I have to run so many plans through her father to ensure nobody's toes are stepped on, custodially-speaking. Shared custody always seems so much more of a chore when multiple family gatherings are involved.

Which is why it's so nice to have a release - like delving into Alice May Ball's The Cabin on Wolf Mountain.

First of all - werewolves. Werewolves are honestly my most favorite paranormal entity. There's just something about the carnal nature of a man coming to the surface that gets me all tingly in all the right places, sort of like when my boyfriend sniffs at my hair or growls against my shoulder... mm.

See what other highly-inappropriate memories Alice May Ball jogs for me as we break it down after the jump!

Eight Sentence Sunday #10

Welcome to another Eight Sentence Sunday, brought to you by the fine people over at WeWriWa!

This Sunday's eight are once again from The Haunted Lingerie. In this scene, Misty and Jack are debating telling a victim's family the truth when that family has been estranged from the victim for a decade, and when they don't have any answers to give them yet. Misty is championing her point pretty heavily when Jack steps in to give her some perspective.

(Creative punctuation is in use.)

... Misty looked up at him. “Don’t they deserve to know?”
“Of course they do,” he said softly, draping one of his legs across hers. “But maybe they oughta hear it from someone who’s trained to handle that sorta thing. You’re a sweet girl, Mist – there’s no denyin’ that – but breakin’ news like that to somebody… it takes more than compassion. You gotta know how to keep ‘em talkin’, even when they’re cryin’, and you gotta know when to say ‘thank you’ and step away.” He looked down into her eyes. “Do you think you could do that – do you think you could tell ‘em their baby is dead, especially when you don’t have any answers to give ‘em in return for the pretty lie that you’d be rippin’ away?” ...
I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences this week. If you've enjoyed this snippet, you can take a look at my other works on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Romance eBooks, and Smashwords. You can also access my Amazon author page by clicking on the cover art image above.

New Release: "Intercourse with the Vampiress"

After a week or so of not being able to produce hardly anything publishable, it seems the curse of pneumonia is passing, and I'm finally able to put something out there!

My newest book is called Intercourse with the Vampiress. If some of you are wondering why I might use such an unsexy term as intercourse, that's because it's supposed to be a play on the very popular novel and movie, Interview with the Vampire.

From the blurb:
Victor Van Helsing has never known the truth of his lineage. So when a sexy vampiress shows up in his bedroom, he has no idea what she could want with him - let alone what a "vampire" even is! But as his will unravels under her hypnotic gaze, Victor can only feel shame that he is betraying his Mennonite upbringing. Can his faith hold out against the luscious curves of the vampiric vixen?
It's my first venture into mind control and hypnosis, but it's a little understated given Victor's sheltered life - he likely would have no idea what mind control or hypnosis were, so instead, I tried to describe the effects rather than give them name. It also features a woman in control, as my stories are wont to do, so if you enjoy a semi-reluctant male hero being seduced by a powerful woman, this might be the story for you (plus vampires - who doesn't love vampires?)!

Scroll down to see the cover art as well as an exclusive excerpt.

... “Oh!” he cried, shrinking away from her. “”No! I mustn’t…”
“Shh,” she replied, pressing a finger to his lips from behind. “I’m only here to tell you a story – it’s up to you how that story goes. It could be tragic…” Her other hand snaked along his body, inching down the curve of his hip until it settled on the hardening rod between his legs. “…or it might have a happy ending.” He felt her breath in his ear again. “Nice long-johns, by the way.”
“Th-Thank you,” he stammered, “but really, we mustn’t. I cannot bed a woman until I have taken a wife.”
“Oh, please,” Virginia laughed, teasing the spot just beneath the head of his cock. “You couldn’t resist me if you tried. Besides…” She swirled her nail around the wet spot that was forming through his pajamas. “Aren’t you tired of being a good boy?”
Victor’s dick lurched and he bit his lip. He was harder than he had ever been. He could fee his balls aching, a pain that spread throughout his shaft and culminated in his leaking tip. He lowered his head and looked down at the shadowy outline of his member twitching rhythmically in Virginia’s icy palm.
“I’m really not supposed to cavort with Englishers,” he whispered.
Virginia purred into his ear. “But doesn’t it feel so good?” She gave his dick a little pump with her fist and he almost cried out. He had only touched himself in such a way once, and was immediately reprimanded for it by his parents as well as the town elders. Virginia’ touch stirred his memories of the blissful release he had experienced afterward. Could he really wait until marriage to feel it again?
“No one will know?” he asked her breathlessly, gazing at the darkened windows of his neighbors.
“No one will know,” she assured him, and wrapped up his dick in a tight squeeze that forced him to spread his legs. “Are you ready to hear my story now?” ...
Intercourse with the Vampiress is available for purchase from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and All Romance eBooks. You can also click on the cover art above to be taken directly to its product page on Amazon.com.

Stay tuned for more announcements!

Eight Sentence Sunday #9

This post is brought to you by WeWriWa, a blog hop that takes place every weekend wherein authors feature eight sentences from one of their published or unpublished works.

This week's eight are from my newest story, A New Year for Eve. You can find a short blurb to describe it below:
Thirty-one. Divorced. Happy?
It's December 31st, and Eve's divorce papers have just been finalized. It's also her thirty-first birthday, and at this point, she can't imagine a scenario in which she doesn't die a spinster. But when Aaron from IT surprises her with a late Christmas gift at the office New Year's Eve party, Eve suddenly sees a way out of her gloomy future: one that involves Aaron and his naughty little gift.
The eight sentences I'll be posting this week take place in the corporate offices of Eve's company. She's working up to a delicious punishment to inflict upon Aaron as revenge for his arrogant delusions of seducing her, now that she's divorced. For the first time in a long time, Eve is taking control of her life - and is engaging in a little sexual healing. ;)

... She reached over between his quivering thighs and suppressed a grin as he spread them apart so readily. She denied him the immediate gratification of freedom, instead walking her fingers up his legs to the button on his suit coat, slipping it through the hole and tucking each side behind his back through the openings in the rope.
Aaron watched her hands intently, trying to anticipate the moment she would lower them to his groin, but he refused to give him the satisfaction – at least, not while he was trying to brace himself for it – and made a show of playing with his belt buckle while he writhed impatiently beneath her.
“My, you must be young,” she mused, sliding the buckle past each notch at an excruciating pace. “Has no one ever taught you to enjoy it – to savor the experience from beginning to end?”
“No, Miss Doyle,” he breathed, leaning his head back as she raked her nails down his inner thighs through the thin fabric of his slacks.
“And you thought that you’d seduce me and have it over and done with in – oh, five minutes?” she prodded, running the back of a nail up under his frenulum until he gasped. “That sort of thing doesn’t impress me, Aaron - you would have been at a disadvantage.” ...

New Release: "A New Year for Eve"

As The Haunted Lingerie comes to a close, I've started working on my holiday-themed stories for this year.

Now, I'm not a big fan of the holidays. Never really have been. While I love Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas just never meant as much to me. Maybe it's because I've never been a party type of person, or maybe it's because my holidays always involved me being sick or in the hospital as a child, but whatever the case, I've never felt as nostalgic about them as other people.

That being said, I would never deny anyone their holiday cheer! Especially not of the sexy variety.

It is in this spirit that I present to you A New Year for Eve, a tale about a woman turning thirty-one on the thirty-first of December, the day before her divorce papers are finalized. She's feeling old and alone - she can't remember the last time she was single, and in this beauty-obsessed world, she's fearful that she's reached her prime. But the corporate New Year's Eve party has a surprise in store for her - one that might be just what she needs to start the new year off with a bang.

You can find a sneak peek under the cover art below!

... "Lock the door," Eve growled menacingly at Aaron, though she was closer and perfectly capable of doing it herself.
Aaron trudged over and did as he was told, turning the latch until Eve heard the satisfying click that signified his completion of the task.
“Close the blinds,” she ordered next. “Unless you want everyone to see how humiliating this will be for you.”
Aaron frowned. He moved to each of the conference room’s large interior windows and pulled the blinds shut, but kept his eyes on Eve nearly the entire time. He knew she was up to something, but it was clear from his expression that he wasn’t sure what. She could nearly hear the gears turning in his head.
“If this is going to turn into a sexual harassment thing, I’ll just tender my resignation…”
“I’m sorry, Aaron,” Eve interrupted, cocking her head. “Who told you that you could speak?”
Aaron paused. He narrowed his eyes, but did not open his mouth again. Eve smiled.
“Good.” She nodded to the chair nearest to him. “Now, have a seat.”
Aaron stepped forward and warily drew the executive chair out from beneath the table. It had a high back, composed of soft, pliant leather, but no arm rests – the company’s policy, as her father had put it, was to make sure clients were just comfortable enough to let their guard down, but not too comfortable so that they thought they ran the place. He lowered himself into it and rolled toward the conference table, quirking an eyebrow as Eve removed the coil of red, silken rope from the gift box he had prepared for her.
“Bag on the floor,” she instructed, carefully untying the cord from its compact formation. As Aaron complied, she walked over to him, stretching the rope between her hands and admiring its craftsmanship.
“What sort of rope is this?” she asked him.
“Japanese silk,” he replied, eyeing her suspiciously. “It’s used for shibari – the art of immobilizing someone elegantly.”
Eve smiled. She took her time approaching Aaron, who seemed to grow more uncomfortable with every prolonged step she took. Good, she thought. Arrogant bastard.
“Well, I know nothing about shibari,” she confessed, “but my uncle Phillip was in the Navy. He could tie a knot better than anyone I’ve ever known.” She paused for effect, and also to let a predatory grin spread across her face. “Shall I show you?” ...

Late Night Reading #8: "The Curse" by Haleigh Cookson Clark

Welcome to another edition of Late Night Reading!

This evening, I'll be reviewing another great story by Haleigh Cookson Clark called The Curse.

I feel pretty blessed lately in that the stories I've had to read for review have been awesome, and this one is no exception. It's about a guy named Nick who wakes up with a vagina - and a hankering for a dick to put in it! When two of his friends arrive to find a girl in his apartment, things get a little weird - but in a really sexy way. This is a story that keeps you guessing right up until its twist ending that will have you grinning from ear-to-ear.

We'll delve into a bit more when we break it down after the jump.

Eight Sentence Sunday #8

Weekend Writing Warriors is a blog hop that takes place every weekend. Authors share eight sentences from either a published or unpublished work, then visit the other participants on the list to provide commentary and critique.

This week, we get another glimpse into The Haunted Lingerie. This novel is currently my sole focus, and at 47,800 words, we're entering the home stretch.

Here we have part of the confrontation between Misty and Jack. Misty has known Jack practically forever, and has been in love with him almost as long, but something happened to cause a rift between the two, and now thanks to the influence of the haunted lingerie, she has the courage to tell him what that is.

Creative punctuation is in use.

... “The day you came back, you didn’t tell me - I had to find out three days later when I just happened to run into your mother at the grocery store. I hurried up and finished my shopping, only I put a few extra things in the cart just for you.”
Jack averted his eyes as both recognition and shame crossed over his face - he knew where her story was going.
“I almost burned down my apartment trying to bake you a cake, and once it was done, I called you to let you know - but you never picked up, Jack. So, I ate the cake. It became a feelings cake, and I ate it – the whole fucking thing, and when I had choked down the last bite, I promised myself that was it – that I wasn’t going to bother with you ever again, and that if you really wanted to see me, it would be you who made the effort. And you know what I did after I ate the feelings cake, Jack? I spent the next ten years pining over you, you selfish dick!” ...

Eight Sentence Sunday #7

Happy almost-Halloween!

This weekend's eight sentences are once again brought to you by WeWriWa, a blog hop that is held every weekend as an incentive not to slack on Saturdays and Sundays. It's a great way to connect to other authors and see what they're up to, as well as expose yourself to them!

Er... that last bit came out wrong.

For this week's eight, we go right back to The Haunted Lingerie, a paranormal erotic romance that follows Misty Ryder, a victim of supernatural shenanigans, and her quest to solve a decade-old cold case. One might call it a Halloween Whodunit!

Or not.

In this scene, Misty is contending with this new voice inside her head that she's not completely certain is hers - a voice that makes her do things she wouldn't normally do, like put the moves on Jack on the stoop of a Catholic church in a hailstorm. Misty's normal thoughts are denoted with italics, while the other voice's thoughts are denoted with bold italics to discern them from one another. On another note, creative punctuation is in use here. Feel free to divide the sentences more appropriately in your head.

Without further ado, you'll find my eight below:

... Without meaning to, Misty stepped forward into Jack, lightly grasping the open front of his jacket on either side of the zipper, and looked up at him through her long eyelashes.
“You have no idea,” she murmured, her heart skipping a beat as she said it. What the hell am I doing? she thought.
Getting the guy, the strange voice inside of her answered, then added smugly: I know it’s a foreign concept to you.
Her fingers caressed the lining of his jacket, brushing against his shirt and the rock hard muscles underneath it, each tactile glimpse into what he might look like stripped bare in front of her eliciting pleasant pulsations from between her legs, even as her own muscles tensed, bracing for him to pull away, her stomach quivering in anticipation of the rejection that she was sure would come next.
But Jack only lifted his free hand and slipped his thumb into the crook of her arm, using the rest of his fingers to place a light, fleeting touch across her elbow.
“We should get going,” he said, dampening her excitement. “Storm seems to be gettin’ worse.” ...

New Release: "The Game: Home Run"

This is it - the final installment in The Boys Club Series is here.

It's been a long road. My first foray into erotica was The Game: First Down, the first part of the trilogy that quickly became my bestseller. Although I left it momentarily to work on other projects, and in the process was able to produce ten more titles, my mind always wandered back to Vince and how his story would end.

Is this a story where Vince "gets the guy?" Is he too far removed from his own sexuality for him to fully actualize the nuances of his journey? When it's all over, will he go back to his apartment alone? How will his experiences have changed him?

The answer lies in the third and final book, The Game: Home Run.

I'll provide you with a snippet from the new book, as well as its cover art, after the jump.

New Sneak Peek: "The Haunted Lingerie"

Good morning, everyone!

As the weather cools and the nights grow longer, I become more and more involved in The Haunted Lingerie. Now at almost 27,000 words, it's about halfway through the story with the action really rolling. Although I missed my initial deadline of October 13th, it won't be long before the book is finished and ready for reading.

I'm giving serious consideration to publishing using CreateSpace so that I can have physical copies of the book available in addition to electronic ones. I do all my own editing, formatting, and artwork, so as far as I can tell, there won't be a significant fee for me to do so, but I don't yet know if it will be worth it or if I will still be allowed to distribute on Barnes & Noble or other retailers, so I haven't committed just yet. Still, this is a book I firmly believe in and would like to see up on my bookshelf next to my John Saul, Dean Koontz, and Jeffrey Deaver novels. I guess time will tell (and of course, I'll announce it here when it's all figured out).

Another exciting announcement is that I've secured a wonderful artist/cartographer to illustrate a map of the town of Sanctum Harbor, which will be included in the first pages of the book! I've quite enjoyed creating the town, and it will be so nice to see it come to life in more ways than one. I'll have his artwork up with his permission once it's finished.

I wanted to offer another sneak peek today because I've been really delving into the characters and would like to share them with you. Today's excerpt involves a reveal about Misty's home life, her relationship to Jack before the events of the novel, and why the effects of the lingerie hit home with her the way they do.

Technically, these are two snippets from two different parts of the book merged together, but I thought the insight into past events might be interesting to share with you today.

The snippet, and cover art, are available after the jump.

Eight Sentence Sunday #6

It's that time again. That time when writers wake up on the weekends with Mulan's Be a Man dancing 'round in their heads. That time when keyboards clack like war drums in the distance.

The time of the Weekend Writing Warriors blog hop.

This week's excerpt doesn't come from The Haunted Lingerie, but from a tale I released earlier in the week called Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound. It's the first in the planned trilogy of The Witch's Apprentice Series, and it follows the misadventures of Sam Dawson, a newly-single twenty-something looking to fill the void his ex-girlfriend, Abby Dixon, left behind. As he drunkenly mopes at a Halloween party thrown by his best friends, they dare him to sneak up to the house on Hollow Hill to raid the panties of the witch who supposedly lives there. But Sam gets caught, and he soon finds out that her legendary powers are a lot more real than he expected - especially when she bewitches him into the panties he tried to steal and makes him bend over for punishment! Will he be able to resist? Or will the witch have her way with him? Find out in this story full of big, beautiful witches, supernatural spankings, and of course, pegging!

Eight sentences from this tale of paranormal erotic romance can be found below:

... Sam whimpered. He didn’t want to put the panties on – hell, he didn’t want to be standing naked in front of her – but every part of him felt compelled to do so anyway.
His muscles clenched and quivered with his efforts to resist, but the spellbinding effect of Valeria’s eyes had crippled his will, and he reached out with a trembling hand to accept the lacy offering before him.
Carefully, he stepped through each of the leg holes, pointing his toes to get his big feet to fit without tearing through the thin fabric, and Valeria giggled as she watched. The soft, luxurious undergarment lightly teased at his skin as he raised the panties up over his inner thighs. Although he was loathe to admit it, the panties felt leagues better than men’s underwear did, and he found himself idly wishing that some designer somewhere would find some middle ground to make improvements.
“Slowly,” Valeria said, resting her chin upon her fist, “I like to watch.”
Sam obeyed; he had no other choice. ...
If you enjoyed those eight sentences, you can purchase Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound from AmazonBarnes & NobleSmashwords and All Romance eBooks. You can also click on the cover art to be taken directly to its Amazon listing, or check out my Amazon author page here for more stories.

I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences. If you're looking for some more great reads, try Veronica Hardy and John Dylena on for size!

Hope to see you again next weekend!

Late Night Reading #7: "The Demon in my Heart" by John Dylena

Welcome to another episode of Late Night Reading!

This week, I'm pleased to review the second in John Dylena's trilogy: The Demon in my Heart.

You may recall that this is an erotic dark urban fantasy about a man who falls in love with a rather demanding succubus. The Demon in my Heart is so much more than that, though. The world John has crafted expands to its fullest extent here, and in addition to some wonderful romance and wicked sex, we get to attach ourselves more to the characters he has created and invest ourselves more fully in what is becoming an epic adventure.

The Demon in my Heart literally picks up where The Demon at my Door left off. Let's see how much of this review I can get through without spoiling it for you as we break it down after the jump!

New Release: "Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound"

Today marks the occasion of my tenth book being published!

At 13,480 words, it's also the longest book I've published to date (even though The Haunted Lingerie will soon blow it out of the water as far as word count goes).

I feel like I've come a very long way in just a short period of time. I'm still struggling out there in the great, wide world of self-publishing, but with ten books under my belt, it finally feels like I'm starting to carve out my own personal niche. Hopefully I'll have a lot of company there soon, but in the meantime, it's nice to feel like I have a place in the grand scheme of things.

Bewitched, Buggered, and Bound is the first in a planned series of books called The Witch's Apprentice Series. It's an erotic romance about a man looking for true love, and the bizarre, bewildering place he finds it in. Chock full of sexy witches, pegging, and forced feminization, But seriously, what do you expect when you sneak into a witch's house on a dare to steal her panties?

Trick or treat yourself to an excerpt after the jump!

Eight Sentence Sunday #5

Hello, all!

It is once again time for WeWriWa, a blog hop that occurs on weekends in order to encourage authors to expose themselves to others' works, as well as not to slack on the weekends and get some damn writing done!

This week's eight comes once again The Haunted Lingerie. We're going to skip forward a bit to Misty's first night alone in possession of the cursed garment. She was just taking a bath when a strange shadow fell over her, but upon surfacing from the tub, she found that no one was there.

We'll pick up during the aftermath of that eerie phenomenon now.

... She waited, holding her breath until her vision blurred and bathwater began to overflow onto the tile floor. She turned the faucet off and listened. She didn't hear anything.
But there was a smell.
She sniffed despite herself. It was sweet – sickly so, with a sharp acridity that followed. She raised her hand to her mouth to fight the urge to gag and closed her eyes, trying to remember why it seemed familiar, where she had smelled it before.
As soon as her eyelids shut, she remembered: her father’s body had smelled just like that after he had died. ...
I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences this week. If you've enjoyed this snippet, you can take a look at my other works on AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Smashwords. You can also access my Amazon author page by clicking on the cover art image above.

Late Night Reading #6: "I Married a Wereosaur" by Alice May Ball

Good evening, erotiquettes!

Tonight, I have a very special treat for you.

This one is not just a brand new release, but an erotic masterpiece penned by none other than Alice May Ball.

The merits of illustrious authorship aside, this is easily one of the most epic stories I've ever read - and for one that clocks in just over 3,000 words, that's a pretty notable feat!

The name, you ask?

I Married a Wereosaur.

Come explore its mysterious depths with me after the jump!

The Haunted Lingerie: A Supernatural Snippet

It's Wednesday! And you know what that means...

...well, usually it means absolutely nothing.

But today, it means I post a new snippet from The Haunted Lingerie!

This is the first novel-length story I will be publishing, and hopefully, it will be the start of a supernatural series of standalone novels that occur within the same strange town.

It's also the most popular story idea I've had so far. I'm pretty excited about that aspect of it. I've always wanted to write something people were actually interested in, and since it's October, it seems like the perfect time to get this thing out there.

My goal is to have this completed and published by October 13th. So all week, I'll be working on nothing but The Haunted Lingerie in order to achieve my goal. It will be the first time I've focused on one story instead of many since I started publishing, but hopefully the nature of the story will draw in enough readers to make up for only publishing once during this week.

Without further ado, follow me after the jump for a look at the finalized cover art and an extended sexy supernatural sneak peek!

Eight Sentence Saturday #4

It's that time!

WeWriWa is here again, which means I'll be sharing another eight sentences from a published or in-progress work. WeWriWa is a great way for authors to participate in a blog-hop and not only gain exposure for themselves, but give other authors some feedback, too!

For the month of October, I'll be featuring paranormal excerpts only to get you in the mood for Halloween. That means that this week's excerpt is from The Haunted Lingerie, a paranormal erotic romance novel I've been working very hard on for the past month or so.

We'll start off at the point where Misty first sees the cursed lingerie, and where she immediately falls under its spell.

Misty paused, breathlessly basking in the radiance of its unique beauty. The detail was exquisite; it had obviously been made with care, more so than anything she could find in a department store – or even a specialty boutique – these days. The lacework was impeccable, a sprawling pattern of roses up the back that would serve to frame a woman’s natural curves beautifully, wrapping around the sides and skirting the fabric of the front panel, dyed a velvety violet. Purple was Misty’s favorite color, and this shade was particularly divine: a rich, luxe hue which reminded her of royalty and Old Hollywood glamour.
She reached out and reverently touched the silken fabric at the front, noticing the sneaky little underwire delicately built in to the cloth. She could imagine herself sheathed inside of it, the hourglass curves of the luxurious teddy hugging her own as if she had been poured into it and had subsequently altered herself to fit its form. It was like it had been made for her – only for her – and had serendipitously arrived precisely when she needed it most.
Jack will be mine, she thought, staring at the lingerie in a trance.
I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences this week. If you've enjoyed this snippet, you can take a look at my other works on AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Smashwords. You can also access my Amazon author page by clicking on the cover art image above.

Hope you're having a great weekend, and that it only gets better from here!

Late Night Reading #5: "The Demon at my Door" by John Dylena

Finally, a fantasy story!

Not that I haven't enjoyed all the other stories I've read so far, but the fantasy genre is kind of my baby. My very first stories were fantasy-themed and I've had a love affair with both that genre and horror from as far back as I can recall.

So naturally, I was very excited by the opportunity to review John Dylena's latest book, The Demon at my Door, a story about a succubus who moves in as the uninvited roommate of the only man she's ever been unable to kill.

Sounds almost like an anime, right? And in a good way!

I'll explain more as we break it down after the jump.

New Releases: "Sweet Treats, Vol. 1" and "The Game: Dangerous Play," Plus a Sneak Peek at New Cover Art

Thanks to B&N's lengthy turnaround time on new projects, I have two new releases to share with you this week!

It's October, and that means I'll be focusing more on paranormal projects than anything else. Subsequently, Yulene and the Wolf will take a backseat to The Haunted Lingerie, because although the first is paranormal enough, it takes place during the winter solstice, so I don't plan on releasing it until November anyway.

I was happy to get two works out this week and meet my goal after only getting one book out last week. I'm feeling much more confident that I can adhere to that schedule now. Plus, I was able to give fans something they've been looking for: a direct sequel to The Game (now listed as The Game: First Down). It's my bestselling work and already fans are giving it a run for its money with its sequel, officially titled The Game: Dangerous Play. Expect a third and final installment soon!

I also bundled together all three of my lactation stories (Cleaning up Camille, Mia's Milk Machine, and The Milk Party) into Sweet Treats, Vol. 1: Cream of the Crop. There will be more Sweet Treats volumes in the future, all focusing on various "sweet" stories. At only $4.99, it's a great way to save money if you're interested in even just two of the stories I offer!

You'll find excerpts, plus an exclusive work-in-progress, behind-the-scenes look at The Haunted Lingerie's new cover art, after the jump!

Release Day: The Milk Party - Plus a Follow-Up to the Banned Book Post

Okay, so I couldn't wait anymore.

I was going to stave off posting this update until Nookpress has figured out its life, but it's been three days and I just can't be expected to hold it in any longer.

It's here!

My latest work, The Milk Party, is live! It's an 11,000 word story - my longest work - as well as an erotic romance, my first ever venture into that particular subgenre.

Unfortunately, it has also been ADULT filtered by Amazon.

Speaking of which, did I tell you that Pop Goes the Cherry got un-blocked? Because it did! Apparently, one of Amazon's no-no words is now "virgin," which means if you have "virgin" in your title, your parentheticals, or your description, your book is likely to get blocked. Not filtered - BLOCKED.

Mia's Milk Machine has also fallen prey to the insidious filter, and I'm being told that "lactation" is the word that will get you filtered now. Gee, can't wait to see the shitstorm that ensues from breastfeeding literature being placed under an ADULT filter (I'm lookin' at you, Pradheep, you overzealous conservative you!).

You can find a saucy excerpt from The Milk Party as well as links to purchase it from after the jump!

Late Night Reading #4: "Riveted: For Love of a Soldier" by Veronica Hardy

Welcome to another installment of Late Night Reading!

This evening, I had the immense pleasure of reading and reviewing the brand new release from Veronica Hardy entitled Riveted: For Love of a Soldier.

Veronica sets us up in the middle of World War II America, where a tantalizingly curvy riveter named Ava Dunn finds herself pursued - and pursuing - an Italian-American Army officer, Lieutenant Angelo Mascotti. Amidst their burgeoning love affair is the uncertainty of the direction of the war, Angelo's intentions, and even Ava's future. It's a complicated tale made delightfully simple by Veronica's romantic optimism and the characters' headlong plunge into each other (quite literally, in one scene!).

Sounds good, doesn't it? Let's break it down after the jump!

Eight Sentence Saturday #3

Good morning, everyone!

Today is Saturday, which means it's yet another opportunity to participate in WeWriWa! WeWriWa is an event that writers can participate in on a weekly basis by posting eight sentences - no more, no less - of a current or past work. It helps to promote weekend writing (where some of us might normally slack), which is a cause I can always rally behind.

For this week's eight sentences, I've provided a snippet of my upcoming short for the Smutwriters Holiday Anthology, entitled Yulene and the Wolf: A Yuletide Legend. It's a short story about a Norse girl sacrificed to Fenrir in order to placate his struggles against the chains of the gods which have bound him, thereby preventing Ragnarök for another ten years. Once she's in the monster's presence, however, she finds that he may have an entirely different appetite that needs satisfying, and that doing so might just save her life.
... Yulene Úlfreyr breathed once more into the night and watched as it made ghosts in the frigid air, a grim reminder of what she would soon be.
Her lips were trembling. Her feet were frozen. Her fingers were blue, although she could not see them as her hands had been tied around the big river rock behind her. Vánagandr’s Tooth, they called it, a remnant of the monster they sought to appease with their offering of a young virgin, kept so by the elders far after her peers had all been married, who had borne a caul at the unfortunate event of her birth. That was Yulene, who had the honor of knowing the moment of her death from the very moment she took life, and who now stood freezing to death on the icy shores of the river Ván, wondering if beast or snow would kill her first.
Ulvekjøtt, she heard the children call her from a land of distant, fading memories. Wolf-meat. ...
I hope you've enjoyed my eight sentences! You can click on the sneak peek of the cover art for Yulene and the Wolf below in order to access my author page and check out the rest of my books.

Hope you're having a great weekend, and that it only gets better from here!

"Pop Goes the Cherry" Gets BANNED by Amazon

In honor of Banned Books Week, Amazon has decided to bestow the honor upon me of having one of my books banned!

(This isn't like the post I wrote about Cleaning Up Camille getting ADULT filtered. I got an e-mail back from Amazon stating the cover art was the problem, and I decided not to change it because I didn't want to spend the money on new stock, so it was my decision not to pursue getting it unfiltered.)

For those of you following Amazon's witch hunt against erotica writers of all subgenres, we may have another casualty: The word "cherry" may in fact be a bannable offense on Amazon.com.

For our first Tuesday, I'll be submitting The Milk Party, a milking story that's sure to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth.

BBW Literature: Veronica Hardy's Take

Veronica Hardy of Veronica Hardy's Erotica recently tackled the issue of BBW literature. For those of you who don't know, BBW refers to "Big, Beautiful Women," typically focusing on women a size 12 or above. As the average size for a woman is now a 14, this classification applies to a slew of readers around the world.

So, why isn't it very popular?

New Release Day #2: Mia's Milk Machine

I did it! I met my goal this week of completing and publishing two works!

The first, as you may recall, was Cleaning Up Camille. The second as of today is Mia's Milk Machine, an M/F BBW erotic lactation story. It's currently only up on Smashwords and pending approval from B&N and Amazon, but to me, that still counts.

You can sneak a peek at the cover art, as well as a naughty excerpt, after the jump.

Eight Sentence Saturday #2

For this week's WeWriWa challenge, I'll post a snippet from my upcoming work, Mia's Milk Machine.

I love participating in this, as it gives me a reason to write on the weekends and achieve my goals for the week. This week's goal was to publish two different works. As soon as it's finished, Mia's Milk Machine will be the second, following Cleaning Up Camille. I'm going to try to make its cover art a little more "tame" per Amazon's ridiculous guidelines, so we'll see if it gets filtered or not.

Anyhow, here's your eight sentence snippet!

He could see right away that she was swollen to capacity. He had seen it in a cow’s udders before, and he knew how uncomfortable and painful it could be. Although he felt a twinge of sympathy for her, he also felt a completely different twinge in his cock, one that bid it to its full length in just a few seconds. Soon he was just as swollen and uncomfortable as she was, and where he could see her pulse flowing through a dusky blue vein near the surface of her chest, he could feel his blood thrumming in the much more prominent veins of his girthsome shaft.
Mia said: “I’ve been lucky. Unlike most women in my situation, I’ve been overflowing with milk. One of my regulars happened to notice and told me about several very rich men he knew who would pay handsomely if I could develop a line of specialty products tailored specifically to their… unique predilections.”
She smiled as she put the teatcups down on a nearby tray and said: “I’m not worried about you stealing my secret ingredient, Dom, because the secret ingredient is me.”
I hope you've enjoyed my contribution to WeWriWa this week. If you enjoyed Mia's Milk Machine, consider looking into Cleaning Up Camille - or one of my other works - as an alternative until it's released!
